Hey all!
On Monday, Nicole was nice enough to give us a tour of the university! (Thank you Nicole). It was phenomenal! I love Chicago and touring the campus made me love it even more. While touring the campus, I also had the privilege of going into the admissions building and having a chat with the Senior Admissions Officer. We basically talked about what the essays were about, how I can write a decent essay, what they are looking for, that sort of thing. I will definitely be applying to the University of Chicago, especially since it’s about that time for me to start applying for colleges anyways. It’s best to get it done early!
Today was great too. We took 15 minutes to take pictures in-front of some of the buildings and then in-front of some of the signs. I also learned about a new organism, Drosphila melanogaster, better known as those pesky flies that nest on your fruit. I didn’t know that scientists use the fruit fly to test behavioral patterns of humans, as well as new pharmaceuticals. Oh! And the fruit fly is similar to us humans. It has the ability to reproduce (like we do) and can inherit and pass on genes and traits to their offspring (like us!) Crazy, huh?
Just thought I’d share. Have a great weekend!

Sounds like you and the Junior Biocurators are having a fantastic time on campus here at University of Chicago! Congratulations on such a great summer experience!
