The students of Environmental Adventures spent there fourth week learning everything about plants. We learned how to study plants and their adaptations on Monday by visiting the Garfield Park Conservatory and researching the most interesting plants we could find.
The teens were excited to follow their own curiosity “This place is so pretty and there are so many cool plants! these ones move if you touch them”. On Tuesday students visited the Conservatory as teachers and taught fellow students about their favorite plants. “This plant (kigelia) is really good for your skin I actually bought some on amazon!”
Thursday students learned about the importance of carbon sequestration in forest. On Friday students visited the Chicago Botanic Garden and learned how scientist measure the biodiversity of plants.
