A toast is in order
So often have i seen students view the face of science as a school subject too hard to learn, to boring to care about, soo pointless to life. Too often science is mistaken as a lifeless subject. This solution to this blunder is simple and has been used so many times. Make the learning process fun! It’s something that we all know-whenever we are having the most fun is when we are the most interested.Project Exploration is a master in presenting science in its most fascinating ,wondrous form to inner city youth who would otherwise not have a chance to see science at its full potential. All the students I’ve met with my experiences with PE have shown how greatly they care about the science world and show potential to succeed in the scientific community. The oppurtunities Project Exploration gives its students ranges from teaching young women about the connection they have with the natural world at Yellowstone National Park(please see- All Girls Expedition: The Sendoff ) to learning the geology of local state parks to sending students to working mammoth sites in South Dakota. Project Exploration takes students to the areas where science is happening, introduces students to science and than expands on whatever knowledge was developed(ASFP/BSPE). Do not learn geology from the text book, take the students to where geology is in action! show them the mountains and rocks, don’t just Tell them about it! learn from the students and gain their perspectives. Leave behind the dull lectures to the students in closed doors and concrete walls and let the learning take place wherever science is in action! kudos to you PE! may you continue to change the face of science for years to come, there is no one better who could have received that award, and hopefully this will help get the word out on how awesome you guys truly are. What a great post, Jehad. Thanks for the words of congratulations to Project Exploration, but it’s all about students like yourself. You, like all Project Exploration students, choose to engage in the experience of being a scientist. So I toast you and all the other great students that have jumped at the opportunity to try something new and unfamiliar.
