Hope all is well as January comes to a close. If you haven’t heard, Dr. Paul Sereno recently a new scientific announcement last week! On Thursday, January 13th at 1pm, Dr. Sereno introduced the world to a small Triassic dinosaur called Eodromaeus murphi. This small carnivorous dino stood around 4 feet and weighed 10 – 15 pounds. The dinosaur fossils were about 90 percent complete and found in Argentina, South America. Reflections from a Dinosaur Giant
The Dinosaur Giants program concluded nearly a month ago but students are still talking about their summer experience. I was able to catch up with Evan from Brother Rice High School to learn more about his time as a docent at The Field Museum. While in the program, Evan was very passionate about sharing his knowledge with the public. He even theorized what dinosaurs of today would look like and sketched several amazing photographs of them. Dinosaur Giants Bash!
A small room inside of a historical museum was abound with 40+ excited high school aged students. However, these were no average students. These children had just completed a service learning program called Dinosaur Giants. They spent their summer months not laying on the beach but volunteering at The Field Museum in Chicago, Illinois. Of the 105 students who were trained nearly half of them came together to eat pizza, recant stories, and to be recognized for their contributions.

Well, my name is Donavan. I will be starting my freshman year of college this fall at Knox College, which is in Galesburg, Illinois. Some of Hobbies include Spoken Word poetry. Fossil Lab Orientation!
