Summer time at the Fossil Lab.
I love waking up and going to work. I love cleaning the fossil. Alicia and Khari were right. You get lost cleaning that piece, it exhausting but relaxing. I love the way Khari and Alicia teach us. Its very liberal and I have a lot more then in a school year. I love the class time. The things that they tell us blows my mind away.
I am very excited because this sunday is my 17th birthday. I am really excited to see what my family and my friends… Continue reading
First day of work.
For some reason the first blog I posted didn’t go thru, so I am reposting it.
Today was our first day. Unfortunately, Julia won’t be working with us because of some previous engagement. I will miss her but I just hang out with her during the summer.
I will gladly say that I am EXTREMELY exhausted. My hand is sore. I love that we have class time during work. Alicia, my supervisor, is an open encyclopedia. I have learned sooooo much with her and Khari. I love how my coworkers… Continue reading
It’s Almost Over
Hi everyone, Cameron here telling you about my past two week experience in the lab.*Sigh* These past two weeks were dreadful. It has been a tough time trying to open the cast of the leg and foot bone of the sauropod Orontasaurus. But overall, I’m just excited that we finally got it open. It’s very challenging to notice when your energy is getting drained lower and lower. One day last week I was so drained it was tough for me to even write in my journal, so I was pretty… Continue reading
The Wonderful Week of Jobaria
AGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!! One week down, 5 more to go. This has been the best week yet. I honestly don’t think my week could’ve gotten any better. Working with a reliable team in an actual Fossil Lab is the best feeling a person can have. It’s been an amazing experience so far and I plan to encounter more amazing days/weeks just like this past one. I’m very much excited about choising the Lab Intern over the Forensics Program because I probably would’ve never gotten another chance for this once in a lifetime… Continue reading
Fossil Lab Intern
Hello, my name is Cameron Sanders and I am currently participating in the “Fossil Lab Internship” program. I am excited about the program because it gives me the opportunity to actually do hands-on activities with the fossils, cherish memories, experience a once in a lifetime adventure, and get out of the house for the summer. I hope to gain experience, new friends, and more knowledge of fossils than what I already know. A fun fact about me is when I went on a incredible adventure with a few fellow… Continue reading
The Fossil Lab ’11 Julia I.

Hello to all! My name is Julia and I am one of the new Fossil Lab Interns. Blogging is a bit new to me, seeing as how this is my first time doing it, but I’ll try my best to be clear, and not boring. I became involved with Project Exploration a while ago, actually, probably back in the summer after my freshman year of high school, which to my memory was 2009. Since then, it has been a thrill ride as I participated in the… Continue reading
Fossil Lab ’11- Iriana Balbian

I am new at this blogging stuff, but since I am a new fossil lab intern for the summer of 2011 mikki said people wanted to hear my story. I am really excited to be doing the internship this summer because I love fossils. I wanted a job this summer and when Mikki gave us an application I remembered this job from Jackie, she worked in Dinosaur Giants with me. Jackie explain this job as the greatest experience of her life. She explained how this job helped… Continue reading
Fossil lab internship
Between hearing about Dr. Sereno’s work, Sara ElShafie’s project, and spending a day working on your own project, I have learned about the research process.
It takes time. There are many things one must uncover on a topic. I have learned that one is constantly finding out new things about a subject. Giving the information to the public may be difficult at times as the public may deny it. The amount of time that the research project may take will require plenty of patience. A surprising part of the research… Continue reading
