Junior Paleontologists Return from the Ice Age
The Junior Paleontologist (JP) program is an intensive summer fieldwork program that takes minority youth and girls to the Western United States for a comprehensive experience in paleontology fieldwork. During the first two weeks, the students study geology, anatomy, and paleontology, while building academic and leadership skills at the University of Chicago. Then they head to Montana, South Dakota, or Wyoming, where they work alongside scientists on fossil-rich terrain.

Free Spirit Media is a Chicago nonprofit that provides education, access, and opportunity in media production to underserved urban youth. Teens in the program develop, write, film, and produce their own news stories. Their next broadcast provides an in-depth look at Project Exploration’s programs, including this year’s Junior Paleontologists, All Girls Expedition, and Fossil Lab Interns.
The broadcast aired on CAN-TV on August 27 and is currenty feaatured on the ABC7 Chicago website.

This was the night of celebration for the graduating class of 2010 and a night of inspiration for one in line like myself. Congrats to Justice P. from Perspectives Charter School – IIT Math & Science Academy. Justice has recently been awarded the Farther Foundation scholarship.
