After a lovely lunch that also included viewing (and touching) a tortoise, turtles and other repitiles from the Chicago Herpetological Society, Gabrielle Lyon, Project Exploration cofounder and Executive Director, welcomed graduates, their families and guests to Senior Celebration 2011 stating it was “…one of my favorite Project Exploration events…” She then spoke briefly about the organization’s humbled beginnings citing that over 1,000 students have… Continue reading

Celebrating, Rejoicing, and Acknowledging the Class of 2010

Project Exploration staff arrived at the Garfield Park Conservatory’s Jensen Room at 3:00 p.m. In this beautiful building of exotic plants, blooming trees, and exquisite humidity the room itself was a blank slate ready to evolve into something more. The large windows let in the sunlight but there were no tables, no chairs, and no students. In a little under two hours the Jensen Room would magically transform into a welcoming area filled with laughter, food, students, and science.

Senior Celebration 2010

This was the night of celebration for the graduating class of 2010 and a night of inspiration for one in line like myself. I look forward to next year when I will give my own graduating speech to the Project Exploration audience. I spent the night talking with a hopeful crowd of young men and women and their families along with the ever energetic staff of Project Exploration.
