Project
Exploration
Helps Students Go To College
The majority of Project Exploration’s students
are first generation college-bound. With
innumerable forms to fill out, sudden deadlines,
and tough personal essays, applying to college
can be daunting to students and families unfamiliar
with the process. To provide students with the
tools they need to navigate the journey, Project
Exploration hosted its fifth annual College Weekend
in October, reaching 34 students and family members.
College
Weekend is a two-day program for students and their
families that consists of both college application
and essay writing workshops. On
the first day, the college application workshop
focuses on equipping students with the knowledge
and resources they need to apply to the college
of their choice. |

Project Exploration Alumna
and Northern Illinois University student Shureice
Kornegay encourages all students to attend college
and discusses the numerous opportunities available
to students.
