How does the Dinosaur Giants Team program work?
Students, teachers, or community service coordinators contact Project Exploration and request a Dinosaur Giants Team service contract.

Once Project Exploration receives a completed contract, students are scheduled for the next training date. Students are responsible for getting themselves to and from the training and exhibit sites; Project Exploration provides a Team Member handbook, a Team t-shirt and snacks during the training.

7 hours - Training
Students are required to participate in a 7-hour training program, which takes place on site at the exhibit. The program familiarizes participants with the story of the 1997 expedition, the scientific importance of the new dinosaurs, the stages of fossil preparation and exhibit construction, and the components of the exhibit. In addition, students learn skills necessary for working with the public and facilitating on the floor of the exhibit.

12 hours – Exhibit Facilitator
Following the training program, students act as exhibit facilitators for the "Dinosaur Giants" exhibit. They complete a minimum of 12 hours on the exhibit floor during which they lead tours; answer questions about exhibit components; and facilitate interactive and educational programs. The 12 hours are completed in 3 shifts of 4 hours each. Shifts run weekends and school holidays from 10:00am – 6:00pm. At the end of each shift, Team members write a one-page reflection or observation about their experiences that day.
While they are on site, Team members are assisted by an on-site coordinator who coaches their efforts with critical feedback.

1 hour – Exhibit and Program Evaluation
Upon completion of 12 hours of service as a Dinosaur Giants Team member, all students participate in a one-hour evaluation of the exhibit and their experience as a Dinosaur Giant Team member. The evaluation consists of an exit interview and a written evaluation.
