The Run ::
Why is a Professor running in a Marathon?
To build a new dinosaur!
"On my first journey into the Sahara in
1990, I discovered a vast graveyard of gigantic
bones belonging to an unknown dinosaur. I sketched
that place in my field book and returned to Chicago
with a dream that someday I might lead a large-scale
expedition to uncover its secrets.
"Many Chicagoans learned of the discovery
and encouraged me to return to Niger to attempt
this gargantuan task. In 1997 I and my team spent
four months in the desert and returned with more
than 20 tons of fossils in tow.
"After two years of cleaning and reconstructing
the fossil bones, I am now ready to bring this
spectacular new dinosaur back to life. But building
a huge dinosaur like this takes a lot of support,
and I need your help. |
