Project Exploration Background: Co-founded by paleontologist Paul Sereno and educator Gabrielle Lyon, Project Exploration is a nonprofit science education organization that makes science accessible to the public–especially minority youth and girls–through personalized experiences with scientists and science. Through youth development programs, school services, exhibits, and online initiatives, Project Exploration involves the public in the excitement of scientific discovery.
Status: Part-Time (Non-Exempt)
Reports to: Manager of Individual Giving and Board Relations
Position Summary:
As a member of the development department, the Development Associate is responsible for supporting all aspects of the individual giving program and board relations.
Responsibilities:
Database Coordination and Administrative Support
- Use Raiser’s Edge software to track income, maintain and track relationships, generate data and financial reports, and assist with tracking and analysis of development strategies
- Assist with processing all donations
- Provide administrative support to the development department staff as necessary
Individual Giving
- Assist in maintaining donor and prospect files, records, and intelligence (electronic and paper)
- Prepare packets and briefings for meetings with donors
- Assist with preparing and tracking mailings
- Assist with prospect research
- Provide administrative support, including arranging food and beverage, technical needs, and logistical help for events and meetings as needed
Special Events
- Help coordinate logistics of all fundraising events. Responsibilities include tasks such as:
- Coordinate invitation production, mailings, and RSVPs
- Draft solicitation letters to vendors and related correspondence
- Create flyers, signage, program booklets, or other printed material as needed
- Secure bids from and select caterers, printers, designers, florists, etc.
- Maintain files and oversee correspondence.
Board & Committee Meetings
- Assist with producing and compiling board materials and mailings/correspondence as instructed
- Arrange food and beverage, technical needs, and logistical items for board, executive, and nominations, and board development committee meetings
- Help keep records and archives
- Maintain all board documents and files
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge or other fundraising software
- Extremely detail-oriented
- Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Proven ability to multi-task in a high-energy environment
- Outgoing, work effectively with others, and able to proactively troubleshoot and take initiative on assigned tasks
- Interest in the nonprofit sector and development field
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
- A minimum of one year administrative experience; prior nonprofit development administration experience a plus
- Experience with Microsoft Windows and all Microsoft Office applications
- Work schedule includes occasional evenings and weekend hours. Driver’s license and access to car preferred.
Hours: Part-time, flexible, 15-24 hours per week

- Marketing and Web Production Internship
Status: Part-time
Reports to: Senior Manager of Marketing and Technology
Responsibilities:
- Assist with production and management of web content.
- Researches keyword sets for SEO campaigns, and organic search rankings.
- Compiles and analyzes web analytics, Adwords and CPC programs.
- Works with web presence to maximize organic SEO and AdWords/CPC campaigns, developing landing and promo pages as needed.
- Converts digital video in-house as needed.
- Assist with product and event photography.
- Assist with developing web copy for ads and pages.
- Assists with management of marketing campaigns and PR on Social Media channels.
- Provide administrative support as necessary.
- Work with respective departments and mailing list service to coordinate contacts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Actively pursuing a college degree in marketing and communications, or webdesign, with a focus on internet marketing is preferred.
- Portfolio with samples of both print and web-related marketing pieces
Skillset:
- Experience with Dreamweaver, Photoshop managing CMS systems and blogs (Ruby, Drupal, Joomla, WordPress et al), PHP/MySQL, Flash, AJAX
- Excellent written capabilities
- Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Extremely detail-oriented
- Digital Photography fundamentals
- Proven ability to multi-task in a high-energy environment
- Outgoing, able to work effectively with others, and able to proactively troubleshoot and take initiative on assigned tasks
- Experience with Microsoft Windows and all Microsoft Office Suite.
Salary:
Part-time, flexible, 15-20 hours per week,
$8.00/hr
