JP 2001 JP Responsibilities

All JPs must:

  • Be on time every day
  • Meet from 8:30-3:30 at 924 E.57th street, Room 301
  • Write every day
  • Develop a research project with a group & present your investigation at the end of the program
  • Contribute to a group project after the trip to Montana
  • Contribute to an evaluation of the program
  • Make at least one presentation at your school in the fall

Focus areas for growth

Consciousness of and Contributions to Group

  • JPs give constructive, concrete feedback during journal reflections

Attitudes towards challenge

  • JPs seek help and do not panic if they get stuck or frustrated; they are able to continue after evaluating a difficult situation
  • Even when challenged, JPs take a "let's try it" or "we can do it" attitude

Project Planning

  • JPs organize a plan for work
  • JPs follow plans and adapt plan when necessary (based on variables of time and resources)

Measuring

  • JPs use correct units and measurement tools
  • JPs measure reasonably accurately

Reading Comprehension

  • JPs are able to read silently and aloud and summarize main points
  • JPs are able to refer to text during discussions
  • JPs are able to pose questions from reading

Evidence of Observations

  • Written and verbal observations have some basis in experience or understanding of nature of evidence (they can distinguish "evidence" from opinion)

Evidence of Reflection and Processing

  • Journal entries make reference to activities, conversations and readings
  • JPs are able to construct a concept map and interpret it for others
  • JPs recognize evidence of patterns and relationships
