Dave Blackburn was born on September 20, 1979 in Columbia, Missouri.

He grew up in Houston, Texas where he played lots and lots of baseball and read lots and lots of books.

When he was fourteen he moved to Chicago with his mom, Susan. Except for one year at Colgate University, he hasn't left the city since.

He is currently an undergraduate biology concentrator at the University of Chicago and has been working with Dr. Sereno for over a year and a half. This expedition will be Dave's first experience with fieldwork, so he honestly can't say what he is looking forward to most. But, finding the bones of dinosaurs, seeing lots of stars, and being dirty all come near the top of his list.
