I have followed you work on our local cable programs and have enjoyed every minute. I hope you find more fossil remains and more environmental clues to unravel the African pages of history. So far a little known or considered area . As a cheeky yet happily married mother of two preschoolers may I say to Paul and the other gentlemen I LOOK forward to seeing you on the cable....such a nice smile!!!!!!!!! Detracts from you obvious intelligence but aahhhhh who cares, what a smile. Everyone deserves to laugh!!! Hope this amused you.

Except in The Hague there is a museum, but the only carnivorous dinosaur they have is one allosaurus. I also have a question, why don't you and your team go search in Australia. Haven't had time to read the whole site yet, but the layout and content looks superb, I loved the idea that you had to bury the PC's in the sand over the heat of the day to keep them cool - glad we don't have to do that here - they would be drowned. I really thought that there would be a lot more hardships to face while spending a year living in the middle of the Sahara. But then again having one or two showers a month or having a sand dune for your bathroom could or is the least of your problems. Actually you could really look at the circumstances that you are in very good. I don't think that anything remotely bad would happen to you thogh because of how vigurously you planned this expedition. I am eager to learn more about your 2000 expedition. Dear Mr. Sereno, I'm on the seventh grade white team at Washington Junior High School. My language arts and social sciences classes have been studying your expedition for a couple weeks now. To tell you the truth, I was never all that interested in paleantology (no offense), but this has been really cool. Partly because you used to live here. Also because you have found at least two major dinosaur species. I thought it was really cool reading all those statistics, especially about all those jolly ranchers. Do they really help you during dehydration? Before i go, I have some questions. You don't have to answer if you can't afford it. I've heard it costs 9 bucks an e-mail! Here they are. 1.How long did you live in Naperville? 2.Did you enjoy it? 3.Do you ever miss it? 4.What year were you in seventh grade? 5.What is your favorite dinosaur? 6.How about out of the ones you've discovered? Thanks! I hope your expedition turns out successful! Best of luck, Megan Gliori

Dear Mr. Sereno, My name is Catherine Laraia and I am 13 years old. I go to Washington Jr. High School. When I was younger, I thought it was so neat that dinosaurs once lived. But as I got older, my interest was starting to go away. Now, since I heard of you, I am starting to gain that interest back. I had your mother for an art teacher at Prairie School. She was really nice and talked about you here and there. I think this expedition is good influence on younger children because a lot of them love dinosaurs. How is it going out in Niger? I hope you discover more dinosaur bones. Good luck! From, Catherine Laraia

A big hello to Paul, Gabe and the whole team. We received the answers to our questions today and we're excited by all of the interesting information that Paul sent. Such a lot to think about! It's hard to believe that you have only a month left. We're going to mail some letters that we hope will reach you before you leave for home. Thanks so much for allowing us to participate in this wonderful project--we even got "top billing" on the Lab School's home page.

11-08-00 Dear DE2K, I am a student at WJHS (Washington Jr. High School) in Naperville, Illinois. My name is Jessica Greene and I'm in 7th grade. At school I am learning all about paleontology and your exploration(s) in Sahara, with some of my classmates. I am amazed with all your efforts including just preparing and getting to the campsite. Also how you put up with all that sand! As I said before my classmates and I have been learning about paleontology and your expeditions, discoveries, etc… I have learned a lot in the last two (or so) weeks such as a dinosaur's skull is one of the most important bones to find. I'm interested in some things that have to do with the desert so if you have chance to answer these questions thanks, but if you don't that's fine also. My two questions are: since most desert animals come out at night have you ever had trouble with them? And.. How are some ways the local people have helped you so far? Thank you for reading my letter and… GOOD LUCK!!! Thanks, Jessica Greene

Dear De2k members, Well I hope everything is going well at the camp site. To me it looks like you don't have much of a bathroom when you are digging. Well I just want to ask you a few questions. If you had to quit paleontology what would you do? Have you ever chipped a bone while excavating? What kind of dino would you like to find in the desert. Where will you go next after you're done in the Sahara? Well, hope you find another big dino! arthur

I was in that class. We also in school watched three videos about you and your expeditions. I know pretty good amount about your work. I was just wondering if I could ask you a few questions. - You have been to this area before. Do you find that you remember certain stuff in the dessert that you nomally would not think you would? - In 1997 you or your wife(dont remember)said you brought lots of Jolly Ranchers. Did you do that again and does it accually help your thirst. Thats about all the questions. -Brett P.S. If it does cost alot to send the email then you dont HAVE to send me back an email.

Hi happy birthday Paul, From the beginning of the school year my class have been studying you and your team and expeditions. You have sent us a collection of rocks, tools you use on the field, and parts of crocodile teeth. I'm very interested in your expeditions and your work. I want to be a paleontologist, too. The things I learned and the things I want to know are still coming together. Right now I'm working on a report and comparing the 1997 and 2000 expeditions. I already did a poster and got an A. I want to learn more about you and your paleontology work. My class has written questions and you answered. My class and school are Mrs.Meldrums 5th grade gifted class at R. C. Hill. I am writing from home because the computers at school don't send. I'm only 10 years old and have a dream to be a paleontologist. Have a wonderful Birthday!

I like your discoveries, but I want to say that dinosaurs are more related to crocodiles than to birds. Fossilized dinosaur eggs, nests, and skin bear resembleance to reptiles. Although theropods have bird-like features, they are still reptiles. Have fun in your discoveries. P.S. You should donate some more fossils to the Field Museum of Natural History.
