Aerospace Institute Topic(s): Aerospace Engineering

This is a one-week residential program for students who are interested in learning about the fields of aerospace engineering and aviation. Many students have some sort of experience with the aerospace field, through model rockets, remote control airplanes, or a family member who is a pilot--but no experience is necessary; just an interest in learning about the field. The Institute is held on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Students will learn through classroom sessions, laboratories, demonstrations and hands-on activities.
Eligibility Requirements: Students entering grades 9 through 12 are welcome to apply.

All Girls/All Math Topic(s): Mathematics

This week-long camp offers high-school girls a unique opportunity to explore sophisticated mathematics in an all-girl environment. Campers attend a class in codes three hours every morning, where they learn basic number theory and applications to cryptography. In the afternoon, they attend mini-courses in other mathematical applications, such as Aerodynamics. Students spend a week on campus in the dorms and eat meals in the cafeteria.
Eligibility Requirements: Girls entering grades 10 through 12 are welcome to apply. Special consideration is given to girls that have successfully completed one year of high-school geometry.

Archaeology Field Experience Topic(s): Archeology
Mississippi Valley Archaeology Center
La Crosse, WI Grade(s): 12+, 9 to 10, 11 to 12
Students will explore what it is like on an actual archaeological excavation, working alongside professional archaeologists in the field. They will participate in small-scale excavations (test units) and survey work. Lab work may include washing ceramics, stone tools and other remains, and sorting them into basic categories. An experimental archaeology component may explore making stone tools and pottery. Optional lab hours and local field trips will be available after regular field-school hours. Supervised dorm facilities are available at an additional cost of $155 for three days. Scholarships may be available based on interest in archaeology, financial need and grade point average.
Eligibility Requirements: This experience is open to high-school students through adults. No previous experience is necessary.

This is an intensive, co-ed residential IMSA experience. Participants will attend a week-long biotechnology course, where they will explore topics, such as DNA, taught by IMSA faculty and students. This program will have evening work that applies to the next day's classes. In addition, there will be some free time and organized activities in the evenings.

California State Summer School for Math and Science (COSMOS) Topic(s): Multiple Focus

This is an academic, four-week residential program for talented students in grades 8 through 12. The COSMOS courses focus on topics not taught in high school, such as astronomy, computer science, ecology, robotics, neuroscience and more. The program creates a community of students who participate in an intensive academic experience delivered by distinguished educators and is available in four locations: Irvine, CA, Davis, CA, Santa Cruz, CA and San Diego, CA.

Charting the Natural World: Marine Biology Meets Math Topic(s): Marine Biology
Phillips Academy

Students in this program will explore and explain the aquatic environment using integrated math and biology. In the science classroom, marine biology will be used as a model for investigating ecosystems, energy and nutrient cycles, evolution, anatomy and physiology. In the math classroom, students will use the fundamentals of algebra and statistics to describe the natural world. Water samples will be collected from local tide pools then brought back to campus to be analyzed with state-of-the-art lab equipment and facilities.

College of Architecture and Planning Summer Workshop Topic(s): Architecture

This workshop is an intensive immersion in environmental design and problem solving. CAP faculty members provide a series of exercises that challenge the young mind and its understanding of the built environment. Exercises are designed to encourage exploration and creativity.

Discover the Possibilities Topic(s): Engineering
Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE)

This is a week long, overnight camp held on MSOE’s campus. Students spend the morning and afternoons doing hands-on projects related to engineering. In the evenings they participate in recreational activities. This is a program designed to help students with an interest in engineering to discover which field of engineering may be right for them.
