Recent reports on science and math achievement among U.S. school children are bleak. But, we can, in fact, boost outcomes and career aspirations in science for urban teenagers at the highest risk of being left behind. On May 12, 2011 nearly 150 stakeholders involved in this work gathered at Gensler to learn from Project Exploration's 10-year retrospective study and to discuss:

• Engaging and retaining students from historically underrepresented populations in science–at school and beyond;
• Making science more accessible, compelling and equitable
  locally and nationally for students of color and girls;
• Expanding Project Exploration’s findings for a regional
  agenda for STEM education.
